MONSOON HAIR CARE TIPS: GET HEALTHY HAIR DURING MONSOON
It’s already monsoon season in many places in India and we have a humid climate everyday with rainfall. To be frank, I have never felt the importance of taking care of my hair until last year. But I had a huge hair loss because of my negligence, which I will ramble in another blog post. For now, here are a few tips to take good care of your hair during monsoon. Also, read my tips on monsoon skin care here. Lets start with some monsoon hair care tips:
1.PROTECT YOUR HAIR
Do not forget to carry an umbrella when you go out, because the humidity that comes during rainy season causes dryness and dullness of hair. When you repeatedly get wet in the rain or subject your hair to humidity, it causes even more roughness and dullness.
2. WASH YOUR HAIR
If you have dry hair, you could wash 2 times a week or if you have oily hair, you could wash your hair 3 times a week. Washing your hair too often causes dryness, removing all the natural oils from your hair.

3. DILUTE YOUR SHAMPOO
Always dilute your shampoo with a little water before applying it on your hair. This reduces the harshness of chemicals in your shampoo. This applies to herbal shampoo as well.
4. OIL YOUR HAIR
Even if you have oily hair, never wash your hair without applying oil. Always apply oil, you need not apply oil and keep it overnight. You can apply oil and let it soak for 10 mins and then wash your hair. Oils provide a natural boost of moisture and hydrates your hair strands.

5. HAIR SERUM
Always use a hair serum to hydrate and add shine to your strands. This will also prevent accumulation of dirt onto your hair and avoids making your hair frizzy and dry.
6. USE A HAIR MASK
If you have that extra time to take care of your hair, use a natural home made hair mask that is nourishing and moisturizing. This not only makes your hair shiny and smooth but also maintains the natural texture of your hair thereby preventing hairfall.
7. USE A CONDITIONER
Never go over board with your conditioner. Always use the right amount of conditioner for your hair. Applying too much of conditioner makes your hair look thin and limp.
8. HEATING TOOLS
Never use heating tools unless there is a need for it. High temperature settings in the heating tools might burn your hair and can cause more and more damage. If you use heating tools, never forget to apply heat protectant spray/lotion/mousse. Always use low temperatures to style your hair. Letting your hair towel dry and allowing it to dry out naturally is always best.
- Never comb or tie your hair while it is wet.
- Watch out for silicones and parabens in your shampoo. Always prefer using silicone-free and paraben-free shampoos.
- Trim those split ends and if your hair is unmanageable, try cutting it to a length which you can manage.
- Always go natural. Never use too many chemicals or heating products on your hair.
