Maybelline Colossal Super Black Kajal – Review

Hello everyone,

I am back after a short break to review the Maybelline’s new launch Maybelline colossal super black kajal. I know all Indian girls love kajal and I am no exception. Kajal is a must in my everyday routine. And one of my most favorite kajal is the Maybelline colossal kajal and I have used around 15 of them. Even if I wish to experiment any other new launches, I would always have a backup of the colossal kajal.

PACKAGING:

The new Maybelline colossal super black kajal comes in a black and yellow paper packaging with all details at the back of the pack. The actual kajal comes in a black twisted pencil form and looks classy than the previous yellow packaging.

MY REVIEW:
I love how they have improved the intensity of this kajal. The kajal is of jet black shade and is extremely pigmented. It glides on so smoothly that you would just need a single stoke of the kajal to get that deep intensity. It gives a bold look to your eyes and you can easily smudge it below your waterline to intensify it further,

They say it stays on for 16 hours but I tried it for 12 hours and it did not smudge even a bit and stayed fresh without fall offs. Since this is creamy and extremely pigmented, you need to remove it well, because it can stay on your waterline for long hours.

This is a perfect kajal for everyday makeup, perfect for office and college goers. It gives a neat and clean look to your face and brightens up your face because of the intensity and deep jet black color. You can also use it on your eye lids as a eye liner and it works perfectly well.

PROS:

1. Jet black color
2. No smudging
3. Highly pigmented.
4. Soft Texture.
5. Waterproof.
6. Suitable for everyday use.
7. Long lasting.

CONS:

NIL

FINAL VERDICT:

There are no drawbacks in this new launch of Maybelline, which is enough to say that it is a great product! I would highly recommend this product to everyone.

RATING:

5/5

L’oreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer Review

Hello Hello,

So today I am back with another review, L’Oreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer. If you want to know the top 10 primers in India, please let me know in the comments.

What is the use of a primer?
Primer seals open pores, especially the minute pores below your eyes, right where your cheeks start. It makes skin smooth and soft. It is non-comodogenic, meaning they wont clog your pores and irritate the skin. It makes it easier to apply makeup and makes your makeup to stay on for a long time.

Packaging:

L’oreal base magique primer comes in a transparent tub packaging, a glass jar and a plastic cap. Again, there is no pump dispenser, but I really don’t care because it is a thick product and it might not spill or you might not have issues taking the product from the tub. Some people find it unhygienic to dip fingers into the tub to take out the product but I am okay with it because we can never expect everything to be perfect always.

Texture:

L’oreal base magique primer has a very thick, creamy consistency, which is very very very soft. It almost feels like powder when you feel it between your fingers. It is pale purplish-pink in color and has no definite fragrance.

My Experience :

When I started using it, I loved the way it sealed my pores. It did definitely make my makeup stay on longer but did not prevent it from becoming oily. I love the way this product glides smoothly on the skin. It does not make my skin feel greasy or oily on application. It did not clog my pores. Overall, this product stood up to my expectation.

Foundation blends easily and smooth and since it has a thick consistency, you will only require a little amount of the product to work on your face. This primer contains silicone and it does not settle in fine lines.

Price :

Rs. 950

Quantity :

15ml

Pros :

1. Gives a smooth and soft finish to the skin.
2. Does not make skin oily or greasy.
3. Makes the foundation last longer.
4. Only a small quantity is required.

Cons:

1. Jar packaging, some people might feel unhygienic.
2. Contains silicone.

Final Verdict:

I love this product to bits mainly because it is glides on smoothly, gives a smooth and satin finish and makes my makeup stay on for a long time. Yes, I would highly recommend this product to everyone!

5 Products I will Repurchase!

Hello Hello,

In this blog post I will be reviewing 5 products which I keep repurchasing again and again. I have normal-oily skin and I always had hyper pigmentation problems. But these 5 products worked wonders for my skin.

1. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face wash

Any Indian girl would have had at least one tube of this product in her life. Yes, Himalayas face wash is a huge hit in India especially among college goers. I have heard a lot of people praising this product and so do I. It does a decent job of cleaning your skin, after all, what more can you expect from a cleanser. It gives a clean and fresh feeling to your skin, and maybe that is why this product was a huge hit.

2. La Shield Sunscreen Gel

I got introduced to this sunscreen by a dermatologist back in Chennai, when I told her that most of the sunscreens I have used made my skin oily, dull and greasy. She recommended this sunscreen to me and the best part about this sunscreen is that it works like a primer. It does not make your skin oily, spreads onto your skin like a powder or like a silicone based primer. And it perfectly guards my skin from harmful rays because it has SPF 40 with PA+++ Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB. The only drawback is that, this sunscreen is available only in certain pharmacies in Chennai and it is always out of stock when I try to buy it online.

3. Aloevera Gel

This product is my all time favorite. Alovera gel is hydrating and gives a cooling effect to your skin, also, if you have sun burns or rashes, it is said to treat and heal them. I use this everyday in my night time skin care routine and I always wake up with soft, supple skin. I use this as a moisturizer during summers.

4. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula

I have extremely dry skin on my hands and legs, and since the time I started using this product, I did not face any dryness. I had visible scars on my hand, due to an allergy, and after using this product, the scars diminished. I would never replace this product with another ever in my life. I use it only during the night mainly because it does not have SPF.

5. Nivea Lip Butter

Nivea lip balms have worked amazingly well for me. I use this lip balm everyday and it does its job well, it keeps my lips well hydrated.

L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique All In One Transforming Powder Review

Hello Everyone,

Today I am going to review the L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact Powder. This product was recently launched by L’Oreal and after reading reviews about this product, I decided to give it a try. What impressed me more is, this compact powder has SPF 34 and PA+++. I personally prefer applying a moisturizer and compact whenever I go out during summers. And since Singapore has hot and humid climate throughout the year, compact powder is a must for my normal-oily skin.

When it comes to choosing the right shade for my skin tone, I always choose the shade exactly matching my skin tone or a little darker than my skin tone but never lighter. If you have read my blog post where I reviewed L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation, I have mentioned that I bought the shade darker than my skin tone, because the exact shade was not available.

I chose the wrong foundation shade so many times until I finally got an idea on how to choose the right foundation for your skin tone, which I will be covering in another blog post.

PACKAGING :

L’Oreal Mat Magique Transforming Powder comes in a stylish white and fuchsia packaging, and has a clear plastic lid. It has compact powder in one compartment and mirror and sponge in another compartment. I like this kind of packaging because the product does not transfer to the mirror and it is easy to travel with. The sponge that comes with the product is good to use for touch up.

TEXTURE:

The texture of this powder is silky and soft and gives a satin finish to the skin. It blends so well when used with liquid foundation. I use it with L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation, and it blends seamlessly and gives a your-skin-but-better kind of feeling. The oil control is pretty average and stay on for 3 hours after which you will need a touch up. I tend to get a little oily T-zone after 3 hours. It mattifies and gives a smoother finish to your skin.

SHADES :

It comes in 5 shades. I am in shade “G2”.

  • G1 Vanilla Ivory
  • G2 Golden Ivory
  • G7 Golden Amber
  • N2 Nude Vanilla
  • N6 Nude Honey

LIKES:
1. Affordable price
2. Gives a satin finish and makes skin looks smooth.
3. Affordable
4. Attractive packaging.
DISLIKES:

1. Nothing much except that it makes my T-zone oily.
FINAL VERDICT:

If you are looking for an affordable compact powder for everyday use, then I think that your search ends here. I love this compact powder and I would definitely recommend this product to everyone!

RATING:

4.7/5

L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation: Review and Swatches

Hello Everyone,

Trying out new foundations is not really new to me. But then, this time I wanted a foundation with light to medium coverage or a foundation that can be applied everyday. And adding to it, it must not make my super oily skin like a disco ball! With so many conditions and requirements, I was in search of a foundation before I could land in Singapore. And honestly I did read reviews about this, but reading reviews has only made deciding even more difficult for me as I tend to carefully invest on cosmetics these days.

Adding to the confusion, the SA handed over the shade #330 – CLASSIC TAN to me when I asked for the product. And it did appear slightly darker than my skin tone, and it still appears the same. But the shade lighter than Classic Tan was a tad bit lighter for my skin tone. which simply means, they did not have the shade matching my skin tone. But I had to had to buy this foundation, for the only reason that it was a liquid to powder foundation, which means the liquid foundation transforms into powder on application.

So I picked up the shade “330 – CLASSIC TAN” and after trying this out i found that it somehow matched my complexion on blending.

PRODUCT CLAIM:

Get the ultimate un-makeup look with Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup with SPF 18. Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it’s like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply – it’s magic!

MY REVIEW:

This is a liquid to powder foundation which is light weight and provides less coverage which can be build-able to medium coverage. The liquid foundation is thin and runny and has no noticeable fragrance. The foundation comes in a frosty glass bottle with no pump or dispenser, which is a major drawback for the product as you can get messy handling the product and also not travel friendly.

The foundation almost gives a no-makeup look and this foundation is suitable if you have clear or good skin. Because it gives a light coverage, you will need a concealer underneath the foundation if you have blemished skin.

This almost gives a semi-matte finish to your face and my face felt oily on my T-zone after 5-6 hours. This is a perfect everyday foundation, which is long lasting and stays on for 5-6 hours, also, you would not require to set this foundation with a compact because it already provides a matte to powdery finish.

Being a liquid to powder foundation, it is not suitable for women with dry skin as it tends to get the skin flaky. Also it barely covers any under eye pigmentation or redness.

LIKES:

1. Light weight foundation

2. No-makeup look / everyday foundation.

3. Semi-Matte finish.

DISLIKES:

1. Packaging.

FINAL VERDICT:

So, except for the packaging, I did not have any dislikes about this product. Yes it did turn my T-zone oily but only after 5-6 hours. And this foundation is also long lasting so I would not expect anything more from an everyday foundation. So this product is definitely a MUST-TRY!

MY RATING:

4.5/5

Biotique Bio Walnut Purifying and Polishing Scrub

Hello beautiful ladies,

So how was new year? Hope you all have a fun filled and a prosperous new year!

Today I am going to review a face scrub from biotique. It is called the Biotique bio walnut scrub. I was introduced to this scrub by YouTube beauty gurus and some beauty blogs. Everyone posted almost good reviews about the product and so I picked this one.

I use scrub twice a week and earlier I used St.Ives scrub. Using a scrub, twice a week, exfoliates your skin and makes the skin breathe removing all the dead cells and making your skin soft and supple. Exfoliation is a must to remove dead skin cells, it makes your skin clear and soft.

About the product:
Biotique bio walnut scrub contains walnut oil, neem, mint, fenugreek and red sandalwood to remove any impurities and dead cells making skin clear and soft.

Price:
INR 199 for 50g.

Packaging:
Biotique walnut scrub comes in a tub, and you have to take out the product using your hand. I feel the packaging a little unhygienic because every time you take out the product using your fingers you are allowing bacteria build up which may cause breakouts in your skin.

Experience on the product:
As I said already I use this in my CTM (Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize ) routine twice a week to remove dead skin cells. The scrub is a thick pinkish white cream with small brown granules in it. I find the granules perfect for a scrub, not too harsh or not too soft. It does the job of exfoliation very well though.

It is claimed to be an ayurvedic recipe so it is good for your skin because of the natural ingredients like walnut oil, neem, mint, fenugreek and red sandalwood. All the ingredients mentioned are so natural that you can use without a second thought.

After a few applications, my skin broke out a little bit, I had a few pimples and I don’t know why because all ingredients are natural. But I like this product a lot, because it not only exfoliates my skin but increases my complexion to great extent.

The tub lasts you for two to three months if used twice a week regularly. The product does not have a heavy fragrance too. There is no skin type mentioned on the scrub so it is understood that it can be used for all skin types.

Final Verdict:
I would recommend this scrub to everyone if it did not breakout on my skin. Since I broke out, plus this scrub also exfoliated my skin very well and improved my complexion, I have a love-hate kind of relationship with this product.

Likes:
1. This is a mild scrub, with not so harsh granules and not so soft granules.
2. Exfoliates skin very well.
3. Improves complexion.
4. Affordable.
5. Leaves skin soft and smooth.

Dislikes:
1. After a few applications, my skin broke out which is not so good.
2. It cannot remove blackheads and whiteheads because it is a mild scrub.
3. Tub packaging, not so hygienic.

Overall Rating:
3/5

Himalayas Herbals Refreshing Cleansing Milk Review

Hello again,

At the end of the year, I am going to review another amazing product and that is Himalayas Herbals Refreshing Cleansing Milk. This is a cleansing milk and I bought this from Health and glow outlet in Chennai.

So, I bought this cleansing milk for removing my makeup and this is the first cleanser that I have tried. Initially I was not such a hoarder for makeup products and then I started watching YouTube gurus doing their makeup and I got addicted to makeup (that’s a completely different story! I will post it later). And I don’t regret it at all, because it is all about learning.

I would pacify myself saying that i learnt something new. So I badly needed a makeup remover to clean up my experimental makeup initially. And then when I visited health and glow, I picked this one up.

I use this product for removing my makeup and I also use this after coming back from office or after a tired or sunny day. I use my face wash after cleansing my skin.

About the product:
Himalaya Herbals cleansing milk is suitable for all skin types. It contains lemon and mentha supplements. Deep cleanses, clarifies and refreshes.

Price :
INR 145 for 200ml.

Packaging:
Himalayas Herbals refreshing cleansing milk comes in a plastic container and you have to just press the plastic container to get the product out. Overall packaging is good and the lid is quite tight so that there is no leakage or mess.

Experience on the product:
As I said, I use it after a long day at work or shopping to remove all the dirt from my face. Chennai is such a polluted city that you sweat a lot and so much of dirt gets settled on your face. The cleansing milk is more like thick milk, white and slightly runny.

I take just one pump of the product and massage it onto my face for 2 to 3 mins and wipe it off with a clean and wet cotton sponge, sometimes I even use a wet tissue, and then I use a gentle face wash to clean my face completely.

I like this product as it takes almost all the makeup very well. But I find it difficult to remove my kajal and waterproof mascara with this cleansing milk. I usually use baby oil to cleanse my eye makeup so I wold not say that this cleansing milk removes all the makeup.

For face makeup, yes, this is an excellent cleanser but for eye makeup you need to use a different one. And I have observed that when I use this product to cleanse my eye makeup, even a little product, around my eye area caused irritation and burning. I had to wash my eyes with cold water after that to soothe my eyes.

So I would definitely not recommend this cleanser for your eyes. You need only a little product to clean your face so this product lasts for a long time. And I know there are even better cleansers than this in the market but this product has many natural ingredients in it like lemon and grape seed and natural cleansers are rare in the market these days so I would say this is a good pick!

Final Verdict:
I would recommend this product for cleansing your face makeup but NOT your eye makeup cos it creates irritation. Plus it has some natural ingredients and it decently cleanses your face makeup so you would not regret buying this product!

Likes:
1. Cleanses face makeup very well and removes dirt.
2. A little amount of the product is enough to remove the entire face makeup so this container goes a long way.
3. Contains some natural ingredients like lemon and grape seed.
4. Affordable
5. Suitable for all skin types.

Dislikes:
1. Not suitable for removing eye makeup.
2. Irritates eye are if applied to remove eye makeup.

Overall Rating:
4/5

Clinique super balanced makeup teint foundation 09 sand

Hello beautiful ladies!

Today I am going to review a foundation from clinique. Well to start with I have combination to oily skin. I have a dusky to medium skin tone which breaks out quite rarely and gets oily at my T-zone.
I must say that I have tried a number of foundations before this one, out of which some of them scored well and some didnt. It took me a lot of time (actually years) to figure out the right type of foundation for my skin tone. I did a huge research on foundations over the years that I will be able to write a new post about finding the right type of foundation for your skin. So watch out for my future posts.
Coming back to the foundation, since I was on a foundation hunt for years and one day I happened to visit the clinique store and experimented a few shades ans spoke with the SA and found this foundation apt for my skin. I used this foundation for about at least 10 times and tried it blending differently and layering differently every time.

Packaging:
This is a matte foundation and comes in a frosty glass bottle with no nozzle as such which is a huge disadvantage because one has to be very careful taking out the correct amount of foundation on your hands. Next is that the bottle becomes messy due to the open cap.
Experience on the product:
It is a light weight, medium coverage foundation which leaves no white cast on your face and doesn’t feel heavy on your skin. It also gives a glowing skin when applied for the first few hours. But this foundation tends to leave my skin oily after some time and require frequent touch ups due to the oiling. It made my oily T-zone even more oily and I had to touch up with a compact every half an hour or one hour. And adding to this it does not have any SPF in it.
Swatch
After blending the product
Thereby, this foundation is NOT recommended for day time or summers as it leaves you with an oily skin and if you are going out during summers, sunscreen is a must. I finally recommend this to dry skin ladies and those who have oily skin better stay away.
Final Verdict:
I would highly recommend this foundation to those with dry to normal skin and not for those with oily skin because this makes your skin even more oilier. It gives a glowing face and since is light-weight the foundation is easy to blend. Overall, I would recommend for dry skin beauties!
Likes:
1. Light-weight foundation
2. Dewy, glowing finish
3. Does not leave a white cast
Dislikes:
1. Makes skin oily especially on the T-zone.
2. Packaging – absence of nozzle which makes it difficult to dispense the product
3. No SPF
Overall rating:
3.5/5
Meet you all with another interesting post. Bye!
